Why I'm telling my story.
My hope is to inspire others who struggle with reading and writing to never give up. I dream of a world where we can speak openly about the challenges we face in life. Open conversation can open minds and hearts. No matter who we are, we are all students and teachers. We learn from each other and are stronger together. You are not alone.

5 Star Review
Readers’ Favorite is proud to announce. The Legend of Bigfoot by Debbie Saarloos is a delightful children's adventure set in the enchanting world of Raylan's Ridge. A magical narrative introduces young readers to Ranger Ellie and her band of mischievous animal friends—Bear, Fox, and others—who must balance playful escapades with an intriguing forest mystery. The story beautifully weaves together outdoor excitement, humor, and heartwarming lessons about kindness and teamwork. As children follow the critters journey, they'll be captivated by the subtle educational elements, particularly the introduction to the Chickasaw language, making this chapter book a perfect blend of entertainment and cultural learning for budding explorers aged 5 to 10

Meet Debbie
Who would have thought that I’d be writing children’s books? For much of my life, I was illiterate and dyslexic, only learning to read at the age of 32. I still need help with spelling (thank goodness for spell check).

This book was easy to follow, funny and even had some educational information about some Native American language and history. It would be a great book for a young reader who is just starting chapter books and has a sense of humor. The illustrations are bright, colorful and add to the story. Looking forward to book #2.

I loved this book. It made me laugh. I learned new things. I forgot that I was reading and was fully engaged with the kids and the animals. I hope the author makes it into an audiobook one day! I can't wait for more in this series.
